Wanton

You wander into
And out of
My life.
I wonder why I let you.
You leave on a wild whim,
And roam where you will
And do what you wish
With whomever you please.
I search for you, witless,
Scouring back alleys
And city streets
To no avail.
Then you weave your way home,
Weak and wretched,
And crawl into my bed.
Debauchery wafts from you.
You gaze at me with golden eyes
Knowing your wiles
Will win me over.
You nudge my hand,
Butt your head against my chin
And purr.
I welcome you home.

  1. Aaawww, that is sweet and lovely. What a beautiful pussy cat. A real poem! Unlike mine.

Your comment left me in stitches, I had not made that connection, well at least not in conscious reality time anyway. Thank you made my day.

  2. I like this too. Your kitty looks cute, yet not-quite-innocent.

  3. Cori — I was hoping to make you laugh.

Nicole — this is actually a feral cat, and I was as close as she was letting me. My zoom lens traveled most of the distance.

  4. Great poem and fantastic picture to go with it. It is as if your cat is posing, just for this poem.

Alas and alack, I had no inspiration for this weeks Simply Snickers so hopefully, I will manage something next week.

  5. Neat!

We adopted an abandoned kitten almost a year ago . . . and she turned out to be a Maine Coon. What a treasure. Your words and photo really resonated.

Thanks for participating at SIMPLY SNICKERS. Hope you will be back! Next week’s prompt is up!

    Blessings,

  8. I LOVE this! You’re so good! I need to get back into my poetry… it really seems to be a gift that God “indian” gave me!
